| Situated
on the Burnett River, 5km north-west of Eidsvold, the
weir yields around 32,000Ml per annum. Users of the weir
include vegetable, citrus, peanut and fruit farmers as
well as dairy farmers and urban consumers.
In November 2003, a consortium made
up of Abigroup Contractors and SMEC Australia was appointed
to deliver the Eidsvold Weir project. The appointment
of the Abigroup consortium allowed construction to commence
on the project in December 2003.
The Eidsvold water storage facility
was constructed utilizing single sided Rapid Ply ganged
shutters. The shutters were made of two rows of 6m long
by 2.7m high Rapid Ply panels. The shutters were leap
frogged over each other on the upstream face of the weir
wall.
Other RMD Australia products used on this project were:
Super Slim Soldiers; Rapidshor; Rapidstage Scaffold and
the Rapid Bar Tie system.
The customer was very happy with the
service provided despite the remoteness of the location.
The designs provided met their requirements and the equipment
was always ready when required.
