| A
new Northern grandstand is being constructed at the MCG.
It will be built in five stages and will be ready for
the Commonwealth Games in 2006. The new stand will increase
the stadiums seating to 100,000.
The grandstand is deeper and taller
than the Great Southern Stand. The external walls are
transparent, which allow light to reach the patrons.
Alshor Plus - the latest generation
shoring is being used on this project. It can be seen
on the photograph to the right.
The other main support system used is
Rapidshor as seen on the left.
The Alshor Plus and Rapidshor systems
were chosen for this project because their quick erection
times enable the client to meet designated deadlines and
thereby provide a large saving on the amount of labour
required. |
