| The
Telfer Gold Mine operated by Newcrest Mining Limited is
undergoing a $1.19 billion upgrade. It is located 485
kilometres south-east of Port Hedland, within the Great
Sandy Desert, where mining is the sole industry.
The operation will incorporate a large-scale
open pit and underground mining operations with ore being
processed through a state of the art plant at a rate in
excess of 17 million tonnes per annum.
The following represents some of the
work being conducted at the time of writing:
Crusher Buildings T2 &
T1
Walls:
Shutters consisted of 17mm plywood formface,
Alform beam walers, Super Slim Soldier equipment and bar
tie. The maximum shutter size was 5m high X 6m long. Steel
reinforcing access was provided by utilising Rapidstage
Scaffolding with two board hop up brackets. Once reinforcing
was in place, the hop up brackets were removed and shutters
lowered into position between the reinforcing and front
face of the scaffolding. A minimum of two levels of working
platform on the scaffold provided access for tying the
bar tie hardware and concrete pouring access.
Suspended Crusher Floor Slabs:
All levels were formed utilising 17mm
plywood decking, Alform secondary bearers and Super Slim
Soldier primary bearers. All suspended floor slabs were
supported utilising RMD’s Rapidshor shoring system.
