| One
of the larger SA projects in 2005 was the Martin Towers
Project. It is a high profile Apartment Complex comprising
of two towers, 7 levels North and 5 levels South, that
were constructed atop the existing John Martins Car Park,
North Terrace, Adelaide.
John Hindmarsh Pty Ltd was the principal
contractor, they built the structural steel framework
with cladded façade. Due to the positioning of
the new towers, Access Scaffold to the North, East and
West elevations of the North Tower and South East corner
of the South Tower was to be built initially from Structural
Steel Needles. To negate the need for multiple floors
of needle beams, and to disrupt cladding of one floor
only, RMD engineers provided a needle/frame solution to
allow the scaffold to be built to full height. In some
areas the needle frames extend 4m past the slab line of
the building.
At present there is over 200t of Rapidstage
Scaffold and Safety Hand railing, and 80t of Super Slim
Soldier’s, Megashor and associated components on
site.
Erection of RMD equipment began in April
05, with RMD working closely alongside Independent Scaffolding,
and completion of this project is likely to be early in
the New Year.
