Leighton Abigroup joint venture is constructing 20km of new
and upgraded motorway including a duplication of the Gateway
Bridge. The project commenced in March 2007 and is expected
to be completed by the end of 2010. RMD Australia’s role
has been to supply formwork solutions from small pilecaps to
large voided slab bridges. RMD has supplied large quantities
of:
- Minima – panel formwork system
- Super Slim Soldiers – the definitive primary beam
- Megashor – ultra, heavy duty shoring
- Rapidshor – high duty, adaptable shoring
(now with a captive deck system)
Significant RMD Australia engineering resources
have been required on this project, from designing simple formwork
schemes to major soffit projects, most at short notice, even
developing and introducing a Super Slim Soldier Anchor Plate,
which wasn’t previously available in Australia, to be
used in single sided formwork applications.
From an operations perspective, the challenge
to supply often large quantities of material from a hire fleet
already in high demand has been a mammoth effort, this included
the importing of the largest size Minima panels not previously
introduced into Australia.
While sourcing and delivering over 1,000t
of material used on this project the number of complaints from
the site regarding the condition of the material or the adherence
to sometimes very short lead times have been minimal and shows
RMD’s commitment to customer service.
